City reports one asymptomatic COVID-19 case
On Jan. 29, Shenzhen reported one imported asymptomatic case of COVID-19.
The case, a male of Chinese nationality, came back to China from C?te d'Ivoire. According to his report, he had shown symptoms similar to a cold and had a diminished sense of smell in early November 2020 while he was at work in C?te d'Ivoire, and he had tested positive in several IgG antibody tests.
On Jan. 8, he entered China via Tianjin and was put under centralized quarantine immediately upon entry. The quarantine ended on Jan. 22, and on the same day he came back to Shenzhen with a mask on throughout his whole travel process. After arriving at his home in Shenzhen, he underwent another seven days of home quarantine, during which he did not leave his home.
His nucleic acid test result released on Jan. 29 was positive. The Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention completed a reassessment with the result also showing positive. The man was diagnosed as an asymptomatic case of COVID-19 (retested positive) by a panel of medical experts and has been transferred to the emergency ward of the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen for treatment. Currently, the patient is in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations show that the patient had one close contact. The close contact, whose nucleic acid, IgG and IgM test results have all been negative, is currently under medical observation. The test results of the 10 external environment samples taken from the patient’s home have all been negative.
