Event held in Luohu raises Children's hand hygiene awareness
On Oct. 15, in recognition of Global Handwashing Day, the Luohu District Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in collaboration with Shenzhen's Tenth Kindergarten and the Huangbei Community Health Center of the Luohu Hospital Group, held a children's hand hygiene event. Designed to engage young participants through fun and interactive games, the event aimed to foster good handwashing habits, helping children understand the importance of hand hygiene in preventing infectious diseases.
One of the highlights of the event was the display of colorful and creative hand hygiene-themed artwork by the children. These playful and imaginative drawings depicted scenes of children diligently washing their hands and bacteria being defeated by "bubble guardians," reflecting the children’s curiosity about the microscopic world of germs and their understanding of the significance of maintaining proper hand hygiene.
This event is part of a long-standing hand hygiene intervention project that has been running in kindergartens throughout Luohu for the past seven years. The program follows a “home-school-healthcare” collaborative model aimed at enhancing hand hygiene practices. Key initiatives include improving school handwashing facilities, developing educational materials, conducting in-class lessons on hand hygiene, and organizing lectures for parents. These efforts have successfully boosted hand hygiene compliance among children, teachers, and parents, helping to instill lasting handwashing habits in young children.
