5th Shenzhen International Photography Week opens in Luohu
On Friday, the 5th Shenzhen International Photography Week 2024 kicked off at the Luohu Art Museum in Shenzhen. The "Shenzhen International Photography Week" is a biennial cultural event established in Luohu District since 2014 and has held four sessions. This year’s event continues to uphold the principles of being "international, artistic, and academic," showcasing the essence of global photography and creating a diverse, harmonious, and inclusive platform for international cultural exchange from the forefront of reform and openness in Luohu.
This year’s Photography Week received nearly 8,000 submissions from over 1,000 photographers across 40 countries and regions. Over 400 outstanding works from 32 countries and regions were chosen for display, showcasing the latest achievements in global photography and highlighting the unique charm of photography as a cross-cultural language. According to Chief Curator Sun Chengyi, the exhibition consists of one main exhibition area and five sub-venues.
The main exhibition, held at the Luohu Art Museum, features the works of Czech photography master Josef Sudek, original pieces by Italian photographer Mario Giacomelli, and the 5th Shenzhen International Photography Art Exhibition.
The sub-venues, located in places such as the King’s Beer Art Street at Tianhe City, Luohu District Cultural Center Qingshuihe Branch, and Luohu District Home of Artists, will host exhibitions featuring works by Sun Chengyi and Yue Hongjun, about the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and original works created by renowned Chinese and international photographers.
