Liantang Port celebrates 4th anniversary with rising cross-border traffic
On Aug. 26, the Liantang Port in Luohu celebrated its 4th anniversary. According to Shenzhen Customs, over the past four years, the port has facilitated the entry and exit of 27.69 million passengers, handled 2.29 million cross-border vehicles, and managed 5.36 million tons of import and export cargo.
As Shenzhen’s seventh land port, Liantang Port plays a crucial role in connecting Hong Kong with the eastern Shenzhen, as well as Huizhou, south Jiangxi, and south Fujian, facilitating significant economic and trade exchanges in the region.
Liantang Customs has been at the forefront of the "Smart Customs" initiative, harnessing advanced technologies like big data analytics and 5G networks. The customs also utilize the nation’s first Computed Tomography H986 inspection equipment, dramatically improving the efficiency, safety, and fluidity of customs operations.
With cross-border travel between Shenzhen and Hong Kong becoming increasingly convenient, the demand for tourism, shopping, and other activities has surged. Since the opening of the passenger inspection channel on Feb. 6, 2023, Liantang Port, the youngest port of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong ports, has witnessed a continuous rise in passenger traffic, averaging nearly 50,000 passengers daily, with peak days exceeding 100,000. It has swiftly become one of the most favored ports for residents traveling between the two cities.
