Among the culinary highlights is Chaozhou-Shantou Cuisine 168, a small eatery nestled under a residential building. The owner, hailing from Shantou, Guangdong, has been running this place with a friend for eight years, making it a favorite among the neighborhood’s residents.
Another local treasure is Fengjingtai Auntie Ya’s Beef Offal, one of Luohu’s top three spots for beef offal. Auntie Ya has been pushing her food cart for over 20 years and now has her own little storefront. Many of her customers have grown up enjoying her dishes. The signature beef offal, including tripe, brisket, tendons, lungs, and intestines, is a must-try. Regulars highly recommend it, especially when paired with her signature chili, sweet and spicy, and garlic sauces. One bite takes you back to the familiar flavors of childhood.
Jingbei South Community has also seen a rise in charming coffee shops. There’s even a Hong Kong-style tea stall specializing in lemon tea and a variety of Hong Kong snacks like egg waffles, curry fish balls, and steamed rice rolls, along with some Chaozhou-Shantou specialties. Adjacent to Jingbei South Community lies the Lotus Market, where residents shop for fresh produce.
