Hong Kong and Shenzhen Youth embark on 'Journey of Gratitude' summer camp
The 2024 Hong Kong-Shenzhen Youth "Journey of Gratitude" Summer Camp was inaugurated on Friday at the lecture hall of Nanshan Museum in Shenzhen.
This summer camp aims to enhance the understanding of the historical development of the nation and the history of Dongjiang water supply to Hong Kong among the youth from both cities. The camp fosters communication, interaction, and integration between Hong Kong and Shenzhen youths, strengthening their recognition and sense of belonging to the motherland, while nurturing the traditional Chinese values of gratitude and remembrance.
The camp has attracted 280 students from Hong Kong, 35 students from Shenzhen, and approximately 360 participants, including accompanying teachers and staff. During their stay in Shenzhen, the youth will visit the Longgang Energy Ecological Park, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Exhibition Center, Luohu’s Three Express Trains Museum,Guangming Industrial Innovation Center for Brain Science, BGI Time and Space Center, and other locations. They will also watch Shenzhen's city light show to experience the vibrant atmosphere of technological innovation and economic development in the city.
Following this, the youth traced the origins of the Dongjiang River, passing through Heyuan, arriving at Sanbai Mountain 5A National Forest Park in Anyuan County, Jiangxi Province, and exploring the source of the Dongjiang River and engage in interactive exchanges with local students.
Over the years, Shenzhen has annually organized the "Journey of Gratitude" summer camp for more than a hundred youths from both Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The four-day program has seen the participation of over 2,300 individuals in recent years.
