Embracing culture: Luohu holds park reading event
On May 12, a reading activity took place at Cuihu Cultural and Sports Park in Luohu District, Shenzhen, with the aim of promoting reading experiences in parks. By blending culture with urban ecology, the event orchestrated a two-day reading celebration, involving diverse stakeholders such as reading spaces, cultural enterprises, art organizations, as well as teachers and students.
Featuring five major areas, the event included market stalls, themed lectures, parent-child reading, cultural interactions, and thematic exhibitions. With three illustration exhibitions, two expert sharing sessions, five parent-child reading activities, and various sketching scenes, the event offered a blend of art and entertainment.
At the reading market, 15 cultural brands showcased 30 booths, including bookstores, libraries, and community organizations. Special booths for the Chinese zodiac signs recruited reading booth owners, creating a vibrant market atmosphere.
Booth highlights included Shenzhen Book City Luohu City's best-sellers and new releases, along with creative games for identifying genuine publications and book drifting activities. Themed limited edition coffee with Luohu District IPs were also available.
Participants could join the "Take Away a Spring" book cover making experience, transforming beverage packaging into unique book covers. This diverse event created a joyous urban reading carnival for Shenzhen citizens.
To integrate literary and touristic elements, Luohu District launched the "Luohu Skyline Poetry" sightseeing benefits activity. Residents from Shenzhen and Hong Kong were invited to read together and appreciate the scenic beauty.
This initiative offered three major awards: helicopter sightseeing at Wangtong Camping Site, Diwang Observation Deck visits, and personally signed books from renowned authors at Shenzhen Book City. It aimed to make reading an exclusive pass for both cities' residents, providing a unique reading experience.
Since World Book Day on April 23, Luohu District has actively promoted reading, guided by the "Luohu District Primary and Secondary School Reading Enhancement Action Plan", encouraging schools to step up reading promotion efforts.
