Luohu launches emissions reduction project
An opening ceremony was held in Sungang of Luohu on Feb. 23 for the launch of a pilot project with a near-zero carbon footprint.
The project will explore carbon emissions reduction technologies and their use in urban construction and renovation to make Sungang area a focal point of Luohu’s green development.
Luohu pledged in October 2022 to reduce its energy consumption per unit of gross domestic product by 15.5% from 2020 to 2025.
The district plans to build the first batch of green corridors in Shenzhen by utilizing near-zero carbon building technology, renewable materials, and advanced operation methods to turn Luohu into apioneering low-carbon urban area, according to Xiao Jiarui, deputy mayor of Luohu.
Xiao said that projects to reduce carbon emissions will be carried out in Renmin South and Shuibei.
