Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport saw a daily peak of 1,354 flights
According to Shenzhen Air Traffic Control, in the first half of this year, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport handled 206,219 flights, an increase of 10.43% compared to the first half of last year, and 14.1% more than in the first half of 2019. On average, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport managed 1,133 flights per day, with an on-time departure rate of 86.13%. The daily peak reached 1,354 flights, setting a new all-time record.
With increasingly convenient multimodal transport services, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport is expanding its service scope, contributing to the connectivity within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It reinforces Shenzhen's driving role as a central city in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), significantly promoting high-quality economic development in Shenzhen and the GBA.
On Aug. 2, Shenzhen's first direct passenger flight to Hungary’s capital Budapest took off, marking another newly added international route connecting Europe this year. On July 14, a SF Airlines Boeing 747 freighter departed from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
As of July 17, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport had handled 32.267 million passengers this year, a nearly 20% year-on-year increase compared to 2023. Among these, international and regional passenger traffic rose by almost 180%. In terms of cargo, the cargo throughput reached 934,000 tons by mid-July, growing by more than 16% year on year. International and regional cargo volumes reached 469,000 tons, up over 21% year on year, while domestic cargo volumes were 464,000 tons, up over 11% year on year, maintaining the top position nationwide.
