As of the end of last year, Shenzhen, Guangdong, boasts a remarkable 1,190 public libraries and self-service libraries at various levels and of various kinds. Recognized as a "Model City for Reading," the practice of reading has gradually become ingrained in the daily lives of its citizens, evolving into a unique lifestyle in Shenzhen.
To provide residents with opportunities for "slow reading" amidst the city's fast-paced lifestyle, Shenzhen has committed to creating diverse and innovative reading spaces. According to a 2024 Shenzhen reading report, the average number of books read per resident in Shenzhen reached 14.97 in 2023. Additionally, households in the city possess an average of 45.57 physical books and 31.37 e-books, reflecting a strong commitment to reading and knowledge.
