Shenzhen takes the lead in low-altitude economy
Pioneering a new frontier in economic development, Shenzhen has launched a unique low-altitude transportation route specifically for gold and jewelry. Four drones recently took off from Waterbei, China's largest gold and jewelry trading center, heading towards the Longgang Lilang Jewelry Industrial Park.
This innovative route exemplifies Shenzhen's commitment to fostering the low-altitude economy. This sector, which utilizes technologies like drones and integrates diverse fields like information technology and aviation, holds immense potential to upgrade various industries across the entire supply chain, from materials and infrastructure to manufacturing and services.
"We're actively developing diverse applications for the low-altitude economy, including logistics, transportation, urban management, and public services," stated Li Yongzheng, Director of the Civil Aviation Division at Shenzhen's Municipal Transportation Bureau. "We're also providing support to companies exploring drone delivery options, both instant and long-distance, to fulfill the growing demand for immediate fulfillment within Shenzhen."
With the goal of becoming a global leader in low-altitude economy applications, Shenzhen has already established 156 drone routes and facilitated over 600,000 cargo drone flights by the end of 2023. This demonstrates the significant progress made in establishing this novel economic sector.
