Shenzhen enhances connectivity with Shantou through new train schedule
The Shenzhen railway department has announced the implementation of a new train schedule starting from midnight on January 10, 2024, aimed at improving transportation connectivity in the region.
Following the adjustments, Shenzhen North Station is expected to operate 667 high-speed trains. Shenzhen Station will witness 204 train services, comprising 52 high-speed trains and 152 Guangzhou-Shenzhen intercity trains. Shenzhen East Station will host 58 regular-speed trains, while Futian Station plans to run 176 train services.
Following the opening of the Ningbo-Guangzhou High-Speed Rail Guangzhou-Shantou and Shantou-Shanwei segments on September 26 and December 26, 2023, respectively, the high-speed rail network in the eastern Guangdong region has witnessed further enhancement.
Thanks to the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway, people can now travel directly between Shenzhen and Shantou. The travel time from Shenzhen to Shantou is expected to decrease from the current 135 minutes to 109 minutes, a significant reduction of 26 minutes.
From January 10, 2024, there will be 16 round-trip high-speed train services between Shenzhen and Shantou South Station, including four from Shenzhen North Station and 12 from Shenzhen Station.
This schedule adjustment further shortens time needed to travel between Shenzhen and Shantou, aiming to create a two-hour economic circle between the two cities. Shenzhen residents will find it convenient to travel to Shantou and other locations along the route, such as Huizhou and Shanwei, meeting travel needs of the public, including family visits, tourism, and business exchanges.
