2023 Shenzhen Marathon kicked off
On December 3rd, the "2023 Shenzhen Marathon" commenced, with 20,000 participants from around the world taking to the racecourse. The Shenzhen Marathon stands as a flagship sports event strategically developed by the city. In contrast to prior editions, this installment of the Shenzhen Marathon exclusively featured the marathon (42.195 kilometers) with a total participation of 20,000 individuals, including 200 teams. This marks the initial stride towards meeting the Platinum-Label standard, symbolizing the Shenzhen Marathon's deliberate progression towards the echelons of international premier events.
Following spirited competition, Kenyan athlete Michael Jemani Kamai emerged victorious in an impressive time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 19 seconds. This achievement not only secured his triumph but also shattered the previous 2018 record of 2 hours, 9 minutes, and 44 seconds, establishing a new milestone in the event's history.
