Shenzhen airport breaks new milestones with record passenger numbers
Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport has reached a significant milestone this year, surpassing 60 million annual passengers for the first time. This achievement places Shenzhen as the fourth airport in the Chinese mainland to reach this milestone.
A major contributor to this growth is the airport's focus on enhancing domestic business and commercial travel. In 2023, Shenzhen Bao'an launched the "Shenzhen Fast Lines" network, a set of 13 domestic routes designed to provide faster and more efficient connections between Shenzhen and major economic hubs, including the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone. These routes have proven to be a success, serving over 33 million passengers in just one year, further solidifying Shenzhen's role in domestic aviation.
Internationally, Shenzhen Bao'an has also expanded its global network. In 2023, the airport opened or resumed 12 international passenger routes, including destinations such as Mexico City, Cairo, Vienna, Budapest, Riyadh, and Madrid. Furthermore, it increased the frequency of 10 international passenger flights, expanding connectivity to major cities across the globe. With over 45 international and regional destinations spanning five continents, Shenzhen's air network now covers 31 countries and regions.
