4th GBA Intellectual Property Talent Development Conference opens in Guangzhou
The Fourth Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Intellectual Property (IP) Talent Development Conference commenced on Oct. 11 in Guangzhou, coinciding with a series of activities focused on IP talent supply and demand matchmaking. The conference aims to create a specialized platform for IP talent exchange and resource flow, fostering high-quality development in the GBA.
In his opening remarks, Derek KK Lau, assistant director of the Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, delivered a video address, announcing plans to establish a World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Technology and Innovation Support Center. This center will provide tailored services for patent information retrieval and analysis to startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), while also nurturing talent in patent technology innovation in Hong Kong. The center is expected to begin operations as early as next year.
A highlight of the conference was the dedicated IP talent supply and demand matching area, where both sides of the talent market could interact directly. Exhibitors included businesses, legal service firms, professional organizations, and university career centers, offering a variety of job opportunities. Graduates and job seekers had the chance to network and find roles that align with their skills and aspirations, further supporting the region’s growing demand for IP professionals.
